OOTD-Conference Wear

Good morning!

This past weekend I went to a writers conference with my mom, my friend Beka, and her mom. Both of our moms are writers, and are part of a writing group, so once a year there is this big two day conference which me and Beka help with. It’s quite a lot of fun and we get to meet some famous authors, but the best part is decided what to wear. For day 2 I had Beka take some pictures of my outfit to show you all, hope you enjoy 🙂

My Nightly Facial Care Routine

Hello loves!

Each night I have a routine to keep my face clean and clear that I have decided to share with you today! I use 6 different products, 4 for my skin and two for my lips. All of these work great for me personally, although other faces might have different results. Let’s get started!

photo (7)

Step 1. I use this St. Ives Apricot Face Scrub to remove any makeup off of my face, it does a great job, feels great on the skin, and has the perfect-grainy-smooth texture that you would expect from a facial scrub. Not only that, but the apricot scent is amazing so I find myself actually looking forward to using it.

Step 2: Next I cleanse my face with Clearasil Daily Face wash. This really leaves skin soft and clean, and oil free.

Step 3:  After washing my face with Clearasil, a soft rag, and splashing it with water, I instantly apply my Matrix Biolage Body Lotion onto my wet face. The scent smells like fresh leaves, and it moisturizes so well. Another option is Lubriderm Daily Moisturizer, I like to use that as well since my Matrix has been running out.

Step 4: Next (sorry that you can’t see this next product very well) I use the Neutrogena Rapid Clear Stubborn Acne cream, this really helps to remove any traces of stubborn acne anywhere on my face, keeping it clear and smooth. I apply this on my chin, nose, under my nose, and forehead.

Step 5: After my skin is finished, I end the process with first a layer of Eos Lip Balm, and finally my Carmex Lip balm. They both keep lips soft and luscious.

How to Consume More Water-5 ways

Hey loves!

Keeping hydrated is so very important, especially as the hotter months creep up on us, but with busy schedules it can be tough to remember to consume enough water. Not only is water obviously needed to survive, but it plays an important part in keeping our nails, hair, and skin looking clean and clear.

Tip 1. While drinking plain water is fine, it can get boring. So what I like to do is infuse my water with various ingredients, and voila, I actually want to drink it.

photo 1 (34)

For the first cup, I cut frozen cherries in half and tore up edible flower petals, which results in a light, fruity drink. Plus, the frozen fruit doubles as ice cubes!

For cup no. 2, I sliced cucumbers into rounds, added whole basil sprigs, and a couple squirts of lemon juice to keep the vegetables from wilting.

And for the final glass, I combined orange segments, a splash of vanilla extract, and cinnamon sticks for a slightly heavier beverage.

My favorite out of these three would have to be the cucumber+basil. It’s so refreshing on a hot day!

Tip 2. Drink in smaller amounts, more often.

photo 2 (37)

This mint green drink dispenser that my mom found at the thrift store is so perfect for holding infused water. It’s so much fun to drink out of!

photo 1 (35)

Challenge yourself to drink 3 small cups of water per hour. If you drink out of something this cute, it won’t be easy to forget!

photo 3 (33)

Tip 3-Water on the go is always a good idea. I try to keep a water bottle in my purse at all times for when I’m thirsty and there isn’t any available at the moment. Maybe even try out a fancy water bottle, that can inspire you to drink more, because who doesn’t like drinking out of something fancy?

You’ll feels so snazzy pulling one of these out of your bag..

HA! I bet you were expecting a plastic bottle, random strangers around me…

Tip 4-Eat your water! No, I’m not talking with a fork and knife, I mean with foods like celery, watermelon, or cucumbers, which you can eat as a snack, and not only are you consuming more water but you are also eating healthier!

Tip 5-Drink with a straw. So simple, but you know it’s way more fun then just drinking out of a glass.

Also, read stuff like this. It makes you thirsty.

Au Natural

Hello loves! Today I went out into the woods near my home to have a photoshoot and show off my new kimono. I decided to leave my hair natural, I didnt do a thing to it, which was hard because my hair is a curly mess unless I work with it a bit…so that was brave of me.

How has your weather been?

April Favorites

Hey loves!

Anther month has gone by so quickly, I literally can’t believe it’s May already…I know, so cliche of me to say, but it’s really true!

So in honor of this month come and gone, here are my April favorites, things that I found myself using a lot or that I really liked for April.

photo (6)

1. F21 Floral Crew Socks-These added just the right amount of floral to my outfits this spring, I love how subtle they are but they won;t go unnoticed. You can buy them here: http://www.forever21.com/Product/Product.aspx?br=F21&category=ACC&productid=2000136519

2. Maybelline Fit Me! Matte Poreless Foundation-I love the the texture of this foundation, it did a great job of covering red areas on my face, the only problem is that I accidentally grabbed the wrong color as I was in a hurry when buying it, so I’m hoping to get the same foundation again just this time in the right shade for my skin.

3. Tangerine Eos Lip Balm-The perfect flavor/scent for spring, plus my lips have been quite chapped lately and this took care of that!

4. Sinful Colors Nail Polish in Snow Me White-I got this polish at Target, it’s just a basic white and was only $3 but it did the job, and for being so cheap, the texture is really nice and smooth!

5. Daisy Gem Iphone Case-I ran into Claire’s the other day to see if I could find a new phone case as mine was literally falling apart (it was plastic) and this caught my eye, I don’t usually go for sparkles but I love the bump out texture of this phone case and of course the daisies are perfect for this time of year 😉

6. Tresemme Extra Control Mousse- I like to scrunch this in my hair after a shower because it gives my hair a lovely texture. Being naturally curly haired, I can have 10 different types of curls in my hair at once…frizzy, ringlets, beach waves, straight parts, etc..which makes for a crazy head of hair, but this gives it all the same type of curl which is a big relief.

7. H&M Simple Striped Long Sleeve Shirt-This is just your typical knit long sleeve, but I love the black stripes on it, this versatile top goes with so many things, and every girl should have at least one simple striped top in her wardrobe.

Style Inspiration: Coachella 2015-Best and Worst Looks

Hey lovelies!

Long time no post!

This past week flew by so quickly, and I realized that I only wrote one blog post! What a shame! 😦

So basically the biggest, most looked-forward to event of the Spring just happened..Coachella! For those of you who have no clue what that is, it’s basically the most popular music festival in the US taking place in~where else~California!

Get ready to see florals, fringe, and patterns galore with my favorite picks from Coachella 2015.

Let’s begin with Beyonce slaying it this Saint Laurent maxi dress, fringe vest, and black fedora.

This skirt looks like it was born and ready for twirling. Paired with heart sunglasses(because what would Coachella be without somebody sporting a pair or two of those)

A floppy hat, brown leather bag, and floaty dress make up this stylish ensemble, I love the addition of the denim she is holding, whether that be a jacket or shirt…who knows?

Kimonos, kimonos, and more kimonos…I love the pairing of this tribal print, black shortie boots, and black fedora with the lacy top.

This style is more reserved which I appreciate because it’s easier on the eyes…but it still has the pop of color with the bag, and pop of funkiness with the off-the-shoulder-top.

b313a809affca73af234f1786da2d11d (1)

This outfit ranks #1 in my favorites, it’s simple yet eye catching and looks very comfortable to boot.

This romper is so much fun! Her lipstick adds that pop of necessary color to go with the yellow and black too 🙂

This looks hard to walk in, but she rocks it! Extra points for having such flawless hair.

Now to move on to my least favorites:

Jenners, sorry to break it to you, this isn’t a funeral….it looks like Kylie took some tips from St. Lucy with that headpiece!

Let’s take Saint Lucy and make her GOTH. That sounds like a GREAT outfit idea.

Sorry nope.

Not to pick on the Jenners again, but Kendall’s denim shorts need to go.

What even…Rihanna, please spare us.

Not to mention, did somebody take a bite out of her shoulder or something? And those boots. Gahh

Whatever this is…

So what were your thoughts on Coachella this year? Which of these outfits were your favorites?

P.s. If I offended anybody by my opinion, I apologize deeply, but remember these were just my opinions, that shouldn’t affect anybody else’s..if you like any of that stuff that I was hating on, good for you, and wear it well 😉

Lilly Pulitzer Target Release-My Favorites

Hey beauties!

Target released their Lilly Pulitzer line yesterday and according to reports it was C-R-A-Z Y…including stores selling out within literally minutes of the release,  and even some ridiculous name calling and a fist fight or two over a dress…so before I go on, remember people, it’s only clothes. Don’t lose your dignity over them.

To continue.

I definitely have some favorites, I’m hoping to go to Target tomorrow to see if I can find anything left over, but I don’t have my hopes up on actually finding anything that wasn’t already snatched up.

Without further ado, my favorites out of the collection.

I can see wearing this springy romper to so many places, whether it be the beach, a shopping trip, or just a walk in the park.

This kimono cover up is so pretty, I love the fringe on the sleeves.

I have a love for pom pom shorts, especially this summery blue pair! The gold drawstring detail adds a touch of sophistication, too.

I absolutely adore the gold toe on these! So adorable!

Pineapples!!!! I’m loving how this line is combining the fun floral prints and the gold details. It goes together so well.

This bracelet has such a fun, funky design!

These plates are screaming “EAT OFF OF ME!”

Yes I know this is a juicer, but I would end up using it for little earrings and things…

More pompoms!!

This would be so fun to carry cosmetics in for traveling or even just a sleepover!

17064254    17064242

I might be picking these up tomorrow if they are there…so sweet, and only $5 for a pack!

So those are my favorites out of the limited edition Lilly+Target collection, do you have any favorites? Have you seen it in stores or bought anything!

Growing Up

It starts with the first breath, then grows bigger and bigger as time passes and breath fades and life begins and ends a million times, or so it feels. Laughter comes and goes faster then you realize it to be happening, you toddle around on your tiptoes with fluffy dresses and flowers in your hair, sticky fingers and pink lips, your mind barely there, no conscious to worry about because you don’t realize what life is anyways.

Bedtime stories and begs for lollipops in supermarkets, lacy nightgowns and twirling around, convinced you are a ballerina. Buttercups on chins and learning to tie shoes, skinned knees and bloody palms from the first bike ride, curly hair and red noses and creamy cheeks. Torn jeans and pretending to fly, only to end up on the ground and not being able to realize that dreams can’t always be realities.

Life is carefree, it feels like floating on a cloud with no worries that you might fall through and tumble from the sky to the ground. You are young with nothing to occupy your little mind but happiness and the occasional disappointment because you didn’t get what you wanted.

Years pass as fast as clouds float through the sky, on and on but nothing seems to change. Life makes sense, you understand what you are meant for, no insecurities or doubts or worries about what might be ahead. But soon all that is left behind.

Happiness is replaced with doubtfulness, worries consume you, nothing seems to be the same, everything changes. You change, looking back at old pictures and wondering how you could have been so happy back then, and what had changed. Wakeful nights are spent doubting, wondering, worrying, thinking, questioning.

Life experience grows, questions remain. Scars are left on the heart and body. You wonder, will everything be like this forever? It feels as if you are in a dark tunnel with no light at the end. You walk and walk and walk, you count down the days until the tunnel will come to an end, but you don’t know what you are waiting for at the end.

Memories fade and new ones are made. Footprints are left etched in places not forgotten. Every day you wake up, a new sunrise greets you, and finally you see the light. Change comes once again, as fast as the wind whisking itself away through the trees and branches in a storm. The light shines brighter and brighter, scars on heart and body fade, leaving marks on both to be proud of, because they are what you have overcome. Life begins to take on a new form, days pass, which turn into weeks, which turn into months.

Life begins to become clearer. Every day brings a new struggle, a new worry, a new idea….a new doubt, a new question, but you begin to realize that these won’t ever stop because this is what makes up life. All the little things like doubts and happiness and questions and excitement and worries and curiosity and carefree-ness and wonders and fright and anger and joy and anticipation and courage and pity and the scars that come and go as years pass. It’s all part of the confusing, amazing bundle that is growing up. I’m only part way there. But this is what I have learned.

My Favorite Spring Trends for 2015

Spring is here, and I’m so happy! Bright colors, time to get out summer clothes, and warm weather starting to peak through.

Not only this, but the summer trends for 2015 are amazing this year. I put together some outfits using my favorites on Polyvore, which include pops of bright color, grid print, blazers, graphic tees, and below-the-knee skirts.

l (4)

This ensemble includes the typical black tank with a phrase on it, pops of refreshing mint in the bag and the necklace, and some contrast with the leopard print shoes.

l (2)

Different shades of Nude are also in this season, I have seen them popping up everywhere, and I paired the blazer, shoes, and watch(of a more pinkish hue) with a black tulle skirt, graphic tee, funky jewelry, and a cute clutch. Plus the cat eye sunglasses add just the right touch of vintage.

l (3)

I love the two bursts of neon green in this otherwise blank outfit. I think that the blazer and black bag add sophistication, and the phonecase, in case you can’t tell what it says, has the words “I just want to drink coffee, create stuff, and sleep.”

l (1)

Yellow and blue together also very on-trend this season, so I combined that with a fashionable pair of pointed toe pumps, a grid-print skirt, and a black short sleeve tee.

l (5)

Gingham, which is another statement this spring, is incorporated with another pop of bright color, and a pair of nude heels and bag. Overalls are another “in” item.

Here are some looks from straight off the runway, I also like the white-on-white and black-and-white look. It’s simple but can be amped up to create something more bold.

Hope you enjoyed this post and got some inspiration for your spring wardrobe!
